Why I Love Getting Ready Shots

Why I Love Getting Ready Shots

When I sit down with couples they usually ask me if I feel it’s important to get shots of them getting ready and I usually answer yes! Every person is different and some couples really don’t want that part of their wedding documented, and that’s perfectly fine with me, but there are some beautiful and special moments that can make for some wonderful photographic keepsakes in the future.

This is usually a huge part of the day when all of the bridesmaids are showing their love and service to the bride by helping her get into her wedding dress and prepare to walk down the aisle. There are so many tender moments that happen between sisters and friends, and it tells a larger part of the story of their unique relationships. there’s just something so beautiful about watching the maid of honor fix the brides hair or the hem on the back of her dress. Or the mother of the bride draping a special necklace across her daughters neck. Or the tearful moments of onlookers who come into the room and see the bride for the first time in her gown. These are precious moments that I love capturing with a journalistic outlook, and which brings life to these couples albums. Some of these images are the ones my clients have cried when viewing, because it takes them back to that moment and the anticipation of walking down the aisle. I can’t even express how much joy I feel when I photograph these moments. Here are just a few.
