Samantha and Patrick – Maui | Wailea | Makena Wedding and Engagement Photographer
I’ve written on here a few times about how intimidating it is photographing another photographer. I know that most in my profession can relate. Samantha is a very talented wedding and engagement photographer in the Philadelphia area, and she is also attending a wedding photography conference I’m hosting next year which is how we connected. I was extremely honored and excited when she asked me to fly to maui to photograph a couple session for her and her husband.
We started in the forest at Makena state park where we found a beautiful tall grass field and a forest of interesting twisted trees. The light was magnificent! We found this location particularly eventful as both Patrick and I left with sore feet. There are small natural pine needles laying all over the ground that poke into your shoes and stab you! But we continued on and found ourselves at the beautiful lava fields. The dried lava that these two stood on was created over 960 years ago! We realized what we were getting into as we hopped over cracks in the lava that looked like they were up to 20 feet above ground. It was one of the most interesting locations I’ve ever shot at.
We ended the evening at beautiful secret beach in Makena, where the tall lava rocks jet out across the ocean, and the glorious sunset enveloped these two. Thank you Samantha and Patrick for inviting me along to be a part of your journey. It was such a blast, and I wish you both many years of happiness and love.
