Kara and Dave – Laie Hawaii LDS Temple Wedding | Hawaii Wedding Photographer

Kara and Dave

A year and half ago Kara went back to her home town and met Dave through one of her high school friends, who happened to be his sister! It sounds like there was some match making going on here. The two hit it off and have been inseparable ever since. In February, Dave and Kara were on one of their usual runs in her favorite locations, Fort Langley, when Dave began faking leg pain. Kara wanted to finish her run so she stubbornly ran ahead and told him to wait for her. Dave knew he had to increase his acting abilities and began telling her that the pain was excruciating. Kara stopped and Dave got down on his knee (Which was not in fact in any pain), and asked her to be his wife.

Photographing other photographers is always a challenge mentally, because you know that expectations are a bit higher. Kara is a wedding photographer herself, and she knew exactly what she wanted in detail. Coming to Hawaii for her wedding was a dream come true. She wanted her photos to represent the beauty and warmth of the island, and she was drawn to the incredible Hawaiian sunsets on the west side of the island.

The two were married at the Laie Temple in Oahu. Because photography is not allowed inside the temple I was not allowed to photograph the ceremony, but we did capture some great images around the gorgeous location. The temple is magnificent and picturesque, and the dramatic clouds that hovered over head added dimension and depth to the already stunning scene in front of me. We then headed out to the Lanikaihuna beach on the west side of the island which allowed Kara to get the beach and sunset photos that she dreamed of for her wedding.

It was such a pleasure to photograph these two and to spend the day with them. Thank you both for allowing me to capture these moments. You and your family were such a pleasure.
